Carol Lorraine St. Rose, age 80, died peacefully at her residence on May 12, 2017. Carol was originally from Harlem, NY, raised her family in Brooklyn, NY before retiring to Rosendale, NY in the early 1990's. Carol was a Senior Council Representative for DC37 for 20+ years and President of the Federation of Field Representatives at DC37 for 10+ years. Upon retiring she became an active community leader in Rosendale. Carol presided over the Rosendale Street Festival for two years. She was a prominent member of the Ulster County Democratic Committee for 10 yrs and appointed board member of the Water and Sewer Commission of Rosendale and the Ulster County Human Rights Commission. Carol was also a volunteer with the Suicide Helpline for the Family of Woodstock. Carol is predeceased by her husbands, William Jackson, Joseph Gumbs and Raymond St. Rose and son, Jodl Jackson. She is survived by her daughter, Melody Beckles (New Jersey), step-daughter Karen St. Rose (Trinidad), three grandchildren, Carlton Evans (New Jersey), Joelle Beckles (New Jersey), and Malik Baptiste (Trinidad), three great-grand children, Rahsaan, Carlton and Brooklynn, sister Esther Taylor-Evans (Stone Ridge) and brother Ronald Taylor (New York). She was a counselor to many people of all ages and ethnicities because of her wisdom, honesty and kind spirit.
