Acye Wall Jr., was born on September 1, 1943 to the late Acye Wall Sr., and the late Florance A. Allen. He departed this life on June 30, 2023 after a brief illness at Trinitas Hospital (Elizabeth, New Jersey).
“AC” or “Pop-Pop,” as he was affectionately known, was born in Wadesboro, North Carolina. He was educated in the North Carolina school system before moving to New Jersey.
In the winter of 1967, Acye met Ruth Sprankle and their journey began. Ruth accepted Acye’s proposal and they were married in 1976. Acye had no problem with being the proud step-father to Dorress and Delana Sprankle. A new addition by the name of Rashun S. Wall was added to the family soon after.
Acye loved watching football. He can be remembered screaming “HOW BOUT THEM COWBOYS,” after a Dallas Cowboys win. Besides being a “die hard” Cowboys fan, in the late 70’s, Acye was the head coach of a lady’s softball team called the Rat Pack and the Kingsman.
Acye joined the Union Baptist Church (Elizabeth, NJ). There he received the Right Hand of Fellowship in 1993. He was involved in many of the church’s fellowships and was especially proud of being a Male Usher.
Acye was employed at Stulz Sickles Steel for over 25 years until he retired. After retirement, Acye worked as a Crossing Guard for the city of Linden, for over 10 years until his health began to fail. He never allowed his failing health to side line him. If you needed him, he would be there for you. He was a man of great faith in the Lord.
On Friday, June 30, 2023, Acye Wall Jr’s heavenly father called him to rest. He passed from this life into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He fought hard to stay here for us, not leaving until he was sure that we accepted that this was “God’s plan.”
I don’t want to win the race of life by being the fastest runner. I want to win it by walking slowly, hand in hand with you Ruth - Acye Wall Jr.
Acye is predeceased by his father Acye Wall Sr., mother Florance A. Wall and one sister Miami Wall. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife Ruth B. Wall, one son Rashun Wall (Linden, NJ), two daughters Dorress Sprankle (Linden, NJ) and Delana (Darren) Barno (Roselle, NJ), one sister Pearl Porter (Linden, NJ), seven grandchildren Jeanean (Abijah) Adams (Roselle, NJ), Clarence Turner (North Brunswick, NJ), BriAna (Torre) Johnson (North Brunswick, NJ) Shavon and Kenya Barno (Baltimore, MD) Aaleyah Wall (Linden, NJ), and Calvin Leach (Norcross, GA), eight great-grandchildren, special niece Diane Carlton and Terry Howard (Charrlotte, NC), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
