Andre A. Chattoo passed away peacefully on January 29, 2025. Born on June 5, 1959, in Avocat Village, Fyzabad, Trinidad, he was the beloved son of the late Simon and Lettie Chattoo. At the age of five, Andre moved with his parents and siblings to Brooklyn, New York, where he was educated in the New York public school system. He attended school from kindergarten through high school, graduating in 1977.
After high school, Andre honorably served in the United States Marine Corps for 14 years, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6). As an Aircraft Operations Chief, he played a crucial role in managing flight data, training, and mission planning while implementing safety programs. He was a proud Desert Storm veteran and served in various conflicts.
Following his honorable discharge, Andre pursued a career in the medical device industry for 17 years. Before his passing, he worked as a Process Development Lead at AbbVie in Branchburg Township, NJ.
Andre was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend. He cherished time spent with his three sons and his six grandchildren—always providing love, support, and guidance. A lifelong New York Yankees, New York Knicks and New York Jets fan, he found joy in fishing, music, and being surrounded by family and friends. His generosity and selflessness were unmatched; he would do anything for anyone, even if it meant going without himself.
Andre was preceded in death by his parents, Simon and Lettie Chattoo, and his older brothers, Terry and Trevor Chattoo. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, mourned by his beloved sons: Dewan Britton (Keanya), Anthony Chattoo (Tianna), and Brandan Chattoo. He is also survived by his sisters Cassandra and Babsie and his brothers Michael, Roger, and Andy Chattoo.
His pride and joy were his grandchildren: Gabrielle Bailey, Danielle Richardson, Joshua Britton, Ajanae Chattoo, DaMarques Britton, and Alayah Chattoo, Andre will also be deeply missed by his longtime friend Kim Brown, Tammy Felton (mother of his children), and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends, each of whom shared a special bond with him.
Affectionately known as "Dre" by his family, he will be forever remembered and deeply missed.
