Annie Brown

Annie Mae Brown, 81 a native of Newark passed away at her residence on August 1, 2018 after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late, Nelson Brown, S.r and mother of Nelson, Jr.(Mary), Gary, Lyndon, Brenda, Alvin and the late Reginald Brown. She is also survived by ten grandchildren ,seven great-grandchildren, a brother, Cornelius Herbert (Polly), two sisters: Ella Webb and Shirley Sessoms, brothers-n-law,George Dixon, Moses Webb, Matthew Sessoms an aunt, Annie Stewart and a host of nieces nephews, cousins and friends. She was employed by the Newark Board of Education as a Teacher Assistant at 13th Avenue Elementary School and retired in 2006 after 35 years of service. She was a proud 1955 graduate of IC Norcom High School in Portsmouth, Virginia. “Forever in Your Heart” Fill not your hearts with pain and sorrow But remember me in every tomorrow Remember the love we shared and the smiles, I’ve only gone to rest awhile Although my leaving causes pain and grief, My going has eased my hurt and given me relief. As long as my love is in each of you, I live not only in your memories But in your hearts and all I do.
