On Friday July 23, 2021 our beloved mother Barbara Ann Hamlett Brown, 80, passed away at St. Peters Hospital in New Brunswick. She was born on November 28, 1940 in Danville, Virginia to the late Herman W. Hamlett Sr. and Elizabeth Ann Fuller Hamlett. She moved to Plainfield, NJ and later resided in Somerset, NJ where she married Jan E. Brown Sr. and they raised their three children. She is predeceased by her younger sister Jacqueline “Odaris” Briscoe. To cherish her memory she leaves her sons Darryl, Derrick, Partner Maria, Jan, partner Andrea, ex-husband Jan, Her 5 grandchildren Jevon, Lil Derrick, partner Alexis, D’Andre(Bubba), Amber(Boops), Omari, 1 great grandchild Aubrey, brothers Curtis, Herman, Preston, nephew Keith, nieces Katrina and Quanta Lashon(Shawnee), great niece Amazen, lifelong friend Elizabeth Jones, God-daughters Wanda and Deidre and many other relatives and friends. Barbara graduated from John M. Langston High School in Danville, VA in 1959. She attended Somerset County College in NJ and held jobs at King James Nursing Home, Revlon, Franklin Township and Stop and Shop. She always enjoyed attending her sons and grandchildren’s sporting events and was often the loudest fan in the stands cheering them on. She also enjoyed working the election polls and did so for many years. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens where she attended Sunday services and Tuesday Bible Study classes.
