Calvin L. Gorrell, 71 of Henrico, VA. formerly of New Brunswick, NJ, transitioned from this life on Sunday, January 17, 2021 Calvin was born on July 15, 1949 to the late Richard and Ida Mae Gorrell. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Gorrell, and 4 sisters, Diane Gorrell, Yvonne Gorrell, Marie Gorrell, and Gloria Gorrell (all of New Jersey). Calvin was a gifted singer & song writer whose sweet, melodic voice warmed the hearts of everyone who heard it. He performed in many musical groups and eventually started the group called ProVision , that ministered to thousands. He was an avid bowler whose mastery of the game afforded him the 800 series and several 300 rings, which are the highest honors you can achieve by bowling perfect games.. Calvin was a huge people person with an innumerable amount of friends. No one was ever a stranger and if you had the good fortune to meet him, you would immediately love him. While living in New Jersey, Calvin was a member of First Baptist Church. He worked for 18 years at Johnson & Johnson and when he retired, he worked for the New Brunswick Public School as a security guard where he loved working around the children . He leaves to cherish his memory, a devoted, faithful and loving wife of 35 years, Patricia Gorrell (Henrico, Va.), four sons, Stacey Cross (Cynthia) of Nebraska, Calvin Gorrell of Florida, Ryan Gibson of New Jersey and Jamar Gorrell of Henrico, Va. Eight daughters , Shona Washington of Texas, Tamiko Gorrell of Florida, Tracey Mann of New Jersey, Chiffon Johnson(DeWayne) of South Carolina, Keisha Bujalski(Joey) of New Jersey , Gwen Harris of Texas, Shana Booker(Steve) and Sheniece Gorrell ( all of Henrico, Va.) Four brothers, Fred Gorrell (Barbara), Robert Gorrell(Sharon), and Clinton Gorrell (Cassandra) and Paul Gorrell all of New Jersey. Three sisters, Myrtle Russell, Roberta Gorrell & Gail Gorrell (all of New Jersey), a sister in law, Mattie Wright and brother in law Eddie English (Bonnie) of Pa.; also cherishing his memory are a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
