Christine Williams was born September 22, 1957 in New Brunswick, New Jersey to the late Willie Mae and Albert Williams. She departed this life on September 24, 2023 at home and entered into the Kingdom of Heaven.
Christine affectionately known as “Tina” received her education in the New Brunswick public school systems and later continued her education at the Newark Public School system graduating from Central High School in 1976.
Tina had a genuine love for children and started volunteering for Mrs. Fennell “Play Street”for several years. She also volunteered to tutor children at the afterschool program for many years. Tina was hired by the University of Medicine and Denistry on August 21, 1978 at the George F Smith library now known as Rutgers University. She worked in many departments at the Smith Library and recently retired from her position as the night supervisor at the circulation department on February 1, 2023. Throughout the years at the library “Tina” left an indelible mark on every person she encountered from doctors, nurses, security, housekeeping, staff and even the students. She was truly “One In a Million”. If you knew her you loved her.
Tina loved people and they knew it. She was one of a kind, she had a heart of gold. She indeed was bossy, but you couldn’t get mad at her. She was certain to make sure you ate; Even if you didn’t want it she forced you to eat it. She loved to eat and had no limits to what she spent whether it was on her lottery tickets (in which she was very lucky) or on a steak at Don Pepe’s or Chateau of Spain’s Restaurant.
Tina was said to be the toughest in her childhood and teenage years always ready to defend or stand up for her family. She feared nothing but God and the elevator and would wait as long as it took for someone to accompany her. Tina loved by many had a few special friends that she had to speak to daily from Fred, Donna, Tweety, Iris, Kim, Percy, Barros, Corissa and “her daughter on the job” Alicia or her bonus son “Zay”.
Tina is survived by her daughter Latisha Christine Williams and her granddaughters Ashley C Turner and Makiyah C Williams. Her sister Patricia Whitten-Williams of Mt Laurel, New Jersey and her Brother Larry Whitten of Newark, New Jersey, Her companion and love of her life Tena Louis (Lou) Gardner. her nieces; Rasheemah, Atiya, Crystal, Jamin and Najirah, and great nieces Taymeya, Asiya, Amiya, Great Nephew Sahir and 3 Great great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Tina was preceeded in death by her parents Albert and Willie Mae Williams, her son the “King of her Castle” her golden child KeShawn Gardner, Her sister Doris Williams and her nephews Jamil E Williams, Hason J Williams and Sahib Johnson.
Tina will be greatly missed but her memory shall forever be in our hearts.
