December 10, 1959 — April 27, 2020

OBITUARY – DELORIS DOCKERY Deloris Diana Dockery was born on December 10, 1959 in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica to Clair and Sylvester Dockery (both deceased). She died in her home in Union, New Jersey on April 27, 2020. She was a graduate of Rutgers University of New Jersey, class of 1997, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management with honors. She was a woman who believed in advancing oneself, thus it is not surprising that she decided to continue her studies and earned a Masters in Public Health from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Deloris was a fierce champion for women living with HIV, herself being one of those women. She has been with Hyacinth AIDS Foundation for over 15 years, before her passing she was the MPH Clinic Director. She was also a founding board member of ICWNA, an organization she worked with for 16 plus years. She was the first woman to chair the Global Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS. She chaired and sat on numerous boards which looked to improve the health and lives of persons living with HIV. She was nationally and internationally recognized for her tireless work to further visibility for people living with HIV. Deloris has touched many lives, through mentoring, teaching and nurturing. Deloris is survived by her son Phillip, grand-daughter Javiah, seven brothers, three sisters, other relatives and friends. Her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone she interacted with as well as those she reached but never met. Let us remember her on Saturday, May 16, 2020…
