Ella Mack

On Tuesday morning, November 19, 2019, Ella Mae Mack made her transition into eternal life, ascending to a place of everlasting rest. Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and loyal friend was born on April 16, 1948 to the late Robert Lee Williams and Mary Bettie Williams in Warrenton, North Carolina. Ella attended public schools in Warren County, North Carolina. Ella Jenkins married Heywood Mack over 35 years ago and was a devoted wife until her death. We are comforted in knowing that Ella lived a beautiful life of Christian service and we are grateful for her impacting presence. Spiritually, she was an active long-term member of Zion Hill Baptist Church of Piscataway NJ. Ella was a faithful servant in the house of the Lord until her health started to fail. She sang with the Inspirational Choir, was a Gatekeeper serving as an usher for many years, instrumental in getting a grant to start the ZHBC Pamper Program, worked with Faith’s Soup Kitchen and the church food pantry through the New Jersey Food Bank. Ella also served as a member of the Holmes Marshall Fire House Women’s Auxiliary Committee. Her life was an example of love, devotion, faithful service and an unshakable desire to serve the Lord. Her legacy will serve as a beacon of hope and encouragement to all who knew her. Ella retired from Chubb Insurance Company as a bookkeeper for over 20 years. Always one to stay busy, she took on several part-time positions after she retired. Finally, she found one she loved, serving as a home health aide. This position allowed Ella’s gift of caring for others, enjoying wonderful conversations with all people, both young and old and being around people to shine. During her leisure, she enjoyed crossword puzzles. Ella was not an avid television watcher; however, one of her few favorite shows was Tyler Perry’s “The Have and Have Nots”. Ella loved family get-togethers and spending time with her family was very important to her. She loved good food, especially desserts. Ella would often make dishes that she grew up in the South that most people no longer prepared. Ella leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, Heywood, her sons, Garland E. Jenkins and George Jenkins( Dee-Dee), her granddaughter and two grandsons, Ta’Kiyyah Glover, William Taylor and Aziz Troupe, her brothers and sisters: Joseph Williams, Katherine Williams (Bernard, Sr.), Lestine Graves (James), Ronald Williams (Connie), Luther Williams (Vanessa), Mary B. Atwood and Priscilla Sampson. Ella also leaves behind one of her closest friends, Dorothy Smith, with many fond memories of the times they shared together.
