Born in Charleston, South Carolina, October 31, 1931, Geneva Sanders passed away at John F Kennedy Haven Hospice Center in Edison, New Jersey on May 31, 2017. Geneva lived in Fords, New Jersey the last 10 years, moving from Rome, New York where she had resided for 39 years. She retired from General Electric, Utica, New York after 25 years and later worked for then-mayor of Rome, current New York State Senator Joseph Griffo. Well-known for her intellect, love of literature and sports, Geneva leaves behind sister Gloria Spear and her three daughters Paula, Robin and Sharon Sanders. Geneva is immortalized by her daughters on the “2015 Society Wall” at the Smithsonian Museum of African American History-Culture, Washington, D.C.
