Hazel James Walker Jr.

October 1, 1939 — January 4, 2022

Hazel James Walker Jr went home to glory peacefully at Saint Barnabas Hospital, Livingston, New Jersey at the age of 80 on January 1, 2022. He was born on October 1. 1939, in Rock Hill, S.C., where he completed school at Emmett Scott High School before enlisting into the United States Army, where he was Honorably Discharged. After his tour of duty he moved to New Jersey, where he worked and retired from both Givaudan Fragrance/Cosmetics Company and Merck Pharmaceuticals Company.

He was the son of the late Hazel and Maggie Walker. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his wife, Mrs. Daisey Lee Walker, and two siblings, Christine and Eugene Walker.

His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his loving Daughter, Carolyn Walker Richardson (Marvin) of Catawba, S.C., his Special Lifetime Partner of 34 years, Lizzie C. Sanders, and one Step-son Rev. Mark A. Sanders (Anna) and their 3 children of Virginia Beach, Va. Eleven siblings: Lawrence of New Jersey, Charles, James Louis, Johnny (Alice), James Melvin (Carol), Joe Louis, Jimmy, Louise, Margaret and Dorothy...all of Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Sister-in-laws: Dora Mae and Nancy of Rock Hill, S.C., Sarah of New York, and one brother-in-law David White, Jr of Rock Hill, S.C., also four Grand children and four Great-Grand.

Hazel (affectionately called "Junior" or "Pop-Pop") enjoyed listening to and collecting music, most of all travelling and seeing other parts of the world.

The immediate family will hold a private ceremony and his ashes will be taken back to Catawba S.C., to follow through with his final wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association and/or a charity of your choice.
