James White Boyd Sr.

November 16, 1957 — July 25, 2023

James White Boyd, Sr., was born on November 16, 1957, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to the late Frank White and Dorothy Boyd, until at ten years old he moved to Perth Amboy, New Jersey. James passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2023, peacefully surrounded by his loved one’s at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey.



James was the eldest of four. James accepted Christ at an elderly age and joined the Second Baptist Church of Perth Amboy, New Jersey.



James attended Perth Amboy High School from 1972-1976 and was the first graduating class of the new high school. James enjoyed participating in basketball and track which included the 100 yard dash, 4x4 relay, and long jump.



James served in the army as a military police officer at Fort Lee, Virginia, from 1976-1978. James was discharged under honorable conditions in ‘78 and went on to take care of family.



James began working with Wilson Sporting Goods, where was employed for five years. He also worked with Rollings Trucking for an additional five years.



James enjoyed listening to music, building model cars, hanging out with the fellas, and spending time with his grands.



James married Mary Ivey in 1979. From that union, they had seven beautiful children. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Boyd. James’ memory will forever be cherished by his children. James, Jr., Deasarea, and Eliza, all of Bennettsville, SC, Gertrude of Highland Park, NJ, James-Edwards (Christine) of Piscataway, NJ, Justine of Highland Park, NJ, and Cheyenne of Lake City, SC; sisters, Dorothea Hall of Newport News, VA, and Lessie Boyd of Tampa, FL; thirteen grandchildren, DeAndre, Zayanah, Jarell, Rehemiah, Makaylah, Takiyah, Geliah, Braylon, Idris, Justice, Raziq, Saeon, and Brielle; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and family.
