Mazie Lee Edwards was born in Saint Mary, Jamaica on April 8, 1929. Mazie was also known as “Tiny”. Mazie was 90 years old and passed away on November 1, 2019. Mazie resided at the Regency Jewish Nursing Home located at 380 Demott Lane, Somerset, New Jersey. Mazie is the daughter of Mayra Bayfield and Ernest Edwards. As a child, Mazie enjoyed swimming and selling goods with her mother at the local Market. She would always tell stories of her childhood that involved she her swimming in the Sambo River after school. Mazie enjoy telling stories of her childhood and taking care of her many animals. Mazie left Jamaica and relocated to the United States. She moved to New York in the Bronx in 1971. Shortly, Mazie sent for her three children from Jamaica to live with her in the Bronx. Mazie began working as a domestic helper in Teaneck, New Jersey until her retirement. Mazie moved to Brooklyn, New York in 1998 to live with her daughter, Claudette. In 2015, Mazie moved to New Jersey to live with her granddaughter, Tonwah. Within the same year, she moved to the Regency Jewish Nursing Home. Mazie was extremely gifted in the areas of baking cakes and knitting. Mazie enjoyed baking beautiful cakes, especially for her grandchildren. She will design a unique decorated cake for her grandchildren's birthdays. Mazie would also knit gorgeous large blankets for her grandchildren as well. Mazie is survived by her daughter Claudette Adeyemi, son Noel Edwards, daughters-in-law Blossom Edwards and Elsie White. Mazie is preceded in death by her son Leroy White. Mazie leaves to cherish her memory: grandchildren, Tonwah Robinson, Michael Gayle, Marcus White, Leon White, Terrance Edwards, Carlton Edwards, Jackie, McDougall, Latasha Creary, Jojo Adeyemi, Atu Adeyemi. Great-grandchildren, Cyhanni Robinson, Kymani Robinson, Azssier Robinson, Carter White, Leon White, Noel White, Dominique Adeyemi, Davante Adeyemi, Shaquille Edwards, Brianna Edwards, Milliana Edwards, Akil Edwards, Kiara Edwards, Akin Edwards, Ebony Knight, Christina McDougall, Marion McDougall, Logen Adeyemi, and Arya Adeyemi. Nieces: Andrea Mason, Doreen Henry, and Joy. Mazie will be missed by her family and friends. She was a lady that is filled with fun and laughter, there was never a dull moment with Mazie. She will always find a way to make you laugh with her jokes, whether it was censored or uncensored. Thank you to all the family and friends during this time of our loss.
