Clara Muriel Ghee, was born in Orange, New Jersey on June 22, 1919 to Lillian and Charles Ghee. Muriel passed away on Sunday, November 24,2019 at the age of 100 years young. Muriel was the first of three children, followed by Charles Nathan and Erwin Roland Hayes. Muriel attended the East Orange School’s and completed her education at the Essex County Vocational School earning a certificate in cosmetology. She had many jobs, which included beautician, nurse’s aide, retail supervisor and spent the bulk of her life as a teacher’s aide in the Newark School system. While working in the school system, she completed her education at Essex County College earning an Associate’s degree. She furthered her studies at Rutgers University in Newark. While on a trip visiting her family in Boyden, Virginia, Muriel met the love of her life Charlie Floyd Crenshaw. They married in 1948. To this union, two children were born Karen Laverne and Charles Joseph. The family made a loving home in Newark New Jersey. Muriel joined Calvary Baptist Church as a young child and continued her service to the Lord as a member of church number 1, 2, and 3. She served as a member of the Celestial Choir, the Nurses Unit, the Christian Education Ministry, the Busy Bee Club, a care giver in the church nursery and the anniversary committee. She was dedicated to the church and would do anything to serve the Lord. She received many accolades and certificates of recognition for her service. Muriel dedicated her life to service. As a Girl Scout Leader Muriel mentored many children.She was a life time member of the National Council of Negro Women Newark section and a committed servant to the Peshine Avenue Parent Teacher Association. Muriel served her family and friends with a loving smile, a kind word and a funny joke. She was full of wisdom and inspirational words. Muriel was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lillian Ghee, two brothers, and her loving husband Charles. . She leaves to mourn her loss her children Karen Laverne Crenshaw-Mosley of Avenel, NJ, Charles Joseph and daughter in law Cynthia of Hillside, NJ , four grandchildren, VincentBrandon, Jasmine Alexa, Donald Marcus, Victoria Shavonne, 1 great grandchild Milani Skye, a special niece, Michelle Cynthia, along with a host of other nieces, nephews, andrelatives and friends
