Ollie C. Sheppard, affectionately known to his family and close friends as “Skeet”, was born to his late parents, Ollie Curry and Margaret Sheppard, November 14th,1954, in Newark, NJ. He attended Newark Public Schools where he graduated from Essex County Vocational High School, Newark Tech.
For 30 years, Ollie worked at Genesis (Summit Ridge) Nursing home in West Orange, New Jersey until he partially retired in 2019. He decided to fully retire in 2020 due to the Covid epidemic.
Skeet was the father of two girls, grandfather of six, an uncle, brother, cousin and a friend to many. He was kind, wise, and very funny. Skeet loved and enjoyed life. He never met a stranger. He was definitely the life of the party. Skeet loved bringing joy to people and everyone knew they would have a great time when he was around. He always had great words of wisdom and was very encouraging. He loved his family.
One of his favorite things to do was spend time with his family...dancing, cracking jokes, laughing, just having a good time. He was always there to support his girls and his grands, family period. He was a strong man, a provider; he never complained, just ALWAYS had a positive outlook on life. Anyone that has ever met him can definitely agree that these words are true.
Skeet was the second oldest of three children. He was also predeceased by his niece Alvita Denton, his Uncle Joe Young and Aunt Lillie Mae Young.
Ollie is survived by his beloved daughters, Monica Sheppard and Venita Sheppard (Bryan); His grandchildren, Shyheim, Kania, Kayla, Tyron, Derrick, and Ayaan; His great-grandson Shyheim Jr; His cherished sister Pamela Stiger, brother Rickie Sheppard (Audrey), and cousin Wilford Young; nieces Rhonda Davis, Tameeka, and Tia; his dear companion Loretta Holt and bonus daughter Keisha Holt; along with great nieces and nephews, close family and friends whom loved and adored him dearly.
