Parilee Long departed this life on June 3, 2024, at St. Peters Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey. She was born July 23, 1956, in Union Springs, Alabama, daughter of the late Namon and Velio Long.
The family relocated in 1970 to Somerset, New Jersey. Parilee was a 1974 graduate of Franklin High School. She began employment with Rutgers University and remained there for several years. She later gained employment with St. Peters Hospital and remained there until she retired.
Parilee was from a very large family, and she was the seventh child out of eleven siblings. Parilee always held her own with her dynamic personality and her fun-loving disposition. She was the life of the party and she could also turn the party out. Parilee enjoyed spending time with her friends and family and she was big on trash talking and you never knew what would come out of her mouth. She was always lively and full of life. She had one son, Joseph, whom she was very proud of and loved very much.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Namon and Velio Long, and sisters, Nellie Long-Thomas, Christine Long, and Anna Dukes-Johnson. She is survived by her only son, Joseph; special friend, Slim/Lucian Robinson; five sisters, Virginia Tarver, Bernice Long, Bertha Dennis, Dora Hemingway, and Vera Perry (Ellis); two brothers, Joe and Charles Long; special nephew and niece, Fuzzy/Shelly and April Williams; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
