Priscilla Fortson Perkins

November 16, 1953 — May 11, 2020

PRISCILLA FORTSON PERKINS was born November 16, 1953 in Hurtsboro, Alabama to the union of Willia Bell (Walker) Fortson and Milton Fortson. At the age of eleven, Priscilla and her family moved to New Jersey where she was educated in the New Brunswick School System until she graduated high school in 1972. She then attended Virginia Union University before deciding to join the United States Air Force in 1973. While serving her country, she earned numerous decorations, medals, badges, citations and campaign ribbons. Priscilla concluded her career with a Honorable Discharge as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1999. Pursuant to her retirement, she earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Park University and subsequently a Master’s Degree from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. “Honey” as affectionately known to most, continued to exhibit her commitment and loyalty to the military while employed as a Communications Specialist at Scott Air Force Base in St. Clair County, Illinois. She was a very faithful member of Greater Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Lebanon, Illinois and in her more active years diligently served as Church Secretary and a Trustee. Priscilla departed this life on Monday, May 11, 2020 in the comfort of her home after a prolonged illness. She was preceded in death by her loving parents. She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Charles of IL; stepson,Alastair of CA; sisters, Millie A. Fortson and Renia D. Fortson, both of NJ and Bettye Banks Allen of AL; brothers, Willie Thomas of NJ, Dextra Vann and Bobby Walker, both of AL; aunt, Carrie Terrell of NJ; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, comrades and friends.
