Raphael Huggins

Raphael Huggins was born October 23, 1945 in Tabaquite, Trinidad West Indies. Raphael was called Clarence by family and friends. He was also known as "Belly's", and "Budare" meaning Big Belly. Raphael migrated to the United States August 1993. He lived in Scotch Plains, New Jersey until August 2000 when he moved to Plainfield, New Jersey. Raphael accepted the Lord in his life in 1992 and was baptized, at Mt. Zion Spiritual Baptist Church, Trinidad West Indies. He later became a member of the St. John's Baptist Church, Scotch Plains, NJ when he moved to the U.S. He was called home with the Lord on November 30, 2017 at Morristown Medical Center. Raphael worked at McEneaneys, and also at Neal and Massy Motor Company as "A" Class Welder for many years. He was the President of the Labour Union until he retired. He enjoyed hunting, and fishing. He was also a member of an All Fours Club for many years and was recognized as one of the best players. Raphael was very creative and able to do many things with his hands. He loved listening to music, especially Christmas Music, parang and calypso. He was great at telling stories and riddles. He will make you laugh and keep you captivated for hours. He loved joking about stories between he and his wife from their younger years. He enjoyed dancing when he was able to do so. He enjoyed taking trips back to Trinidad for summer vacations. He looked forward to it yearly and was always planning the next trip. He cared deeply for his family and would do anything for his wife and children. He enjoyed the times he spent with his grandchildren. He was great at giving advice and listening. He gave unbiased opinions or suggestions when asked about any situation. If you visited the house often, he was sure to get you, to get him a scratch off which he loved doing. Other times he would capture your attention with world politics or any current events. Raphael is preceded by his parents, James and Pearl Huggins, his sister, Sheila Huggins, brothers, Victor Huggins and Willie Huggins. He is survived by his faithful wife of 50 plus years, Angela Huggins and his four children, Rhondon Bernadine, Kerwin Huggins, Sean Huggins (Sophia), Celeste Huggins (Jude), sisters, Vena Archer (Joseph) and Daphne Williams, sister-in-law, Milcah Huggins, six grandchildren, five adopted children, nephews, nieces, and a host of other relatives and friends. His earthly presence will be missed. Submitted by the Family
