Rebecca Frances Campbell

Rebecca Frances Campbell was born to Alfred and Loretta Bailey on October 16, 1940, in New York, NY. She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Alfred Jr., Charles Sr., and Florence Bailey.

Rebecca transitioned from life on March 15, 2023, in the comfort of her home. Rebecca was educated in the New York City Public school system and graduated from the illustrious, all-female high school, Julia Richman.

Rebecca married her teenage sweetheart, Thomas Campbell, (deceased), on February 27, 1960, and two children were born of that union, Craig and Stacey.

Rebecca worked as a clerk at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company & as a salesperson at Macy’s Herald Square until she worked at Chase Manhattan Bank, where she medically retired after 40 years of service. Rebecca joined the Witherspoon Street Presbyterian Church in 1998/1999, where her spiritual enlightenment brought healing. Rebecca served as a nursery school teacher, the chairman of the deacon board, the usher board, as well as the chairperson of the Witherspoon Street Presbyterian Women.

Known as “the hostess with the mostest'', Rebecca coordinated all of the food for fellowship hour and services for special events including a particular focus on the Winter Harvest Festival which she chaired. Additionally, Rebecca served on the building grounds committee and the music and worship committee. Rebecca was known for her details for outstanding presentations.

Rebecca worked as the neighborhood coordinator, and liaison to leasing staff & tenants. She introduced programs to the tenants to help supplement food and educational programs. She brought the fire and police department, sought to build partnerships with representatives from Rutgers University to teach the tenants' safety measures and in return provided gifts to the children. Rebecca was full of cheer, where she in return spread it to everyone she encountered, especially children.

Rebecca leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son Bishop Craig T. Campbell, daughter Stacey R. Campbell-Welsh, and son-in-law Clive. Rebecca also leaves five grandchildren, Chalonda, Ateya, Michael, Kineta, and Tamieka, five great-grandchildren, Janiah, Angel, Joseph, Malik, and Justus, one great-great-grandson, Cameron Christopher, an aunt, Marion Ellis (East Stroudsburg, PA), uncle-in law, Donald Lipscomb,five sisters-in-law, Carolyn, Linda, Valerie, Grace, and Romaine, two brothers-in-law, Robert and Dwayne, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews and her beloved church family.
