Rev. Dr. Norma Joyce Jarrett

June 20, 1948 — September 26, 2021

Obituary Minister, Dr. Norma Joyce Jarrett (nee Thomas also affectionately known as Blossom), daughter of Charles and Ambrozine Thomas was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 26, 2021. She was the wife of George E. Jarrett, for 52 years, the mother of five children, grandmother of many, one great grandchild, and matriarch of the family. She spent her early years in Jamaica where she was educated and worked in various positions at the post office before migrating to the U.S. After migrating she gave her life to Christ and had her spiritual upbringing at New Brunswick Church of God now known as The Promise Church of God. She started her career in the health care field as a Home Health Aide where she ministered and influenced many lives. As she was caught in the net of Christ, as she would say, and began her spiritual upbringing, she became one of the founding members of New Brunswick Church of God with her children. She worked diligently in this and other ministries, in various positions, and came to serve as the Dean of the Promise Church of God School of Ministry in later years. She taught, influenced, mentored, and ministered to everyone that she encountered. She received her Doctorate in Divinity Degree from Grace Hill Bible University and served as a professor in the university. Her life, memories, smile, and her willingness to help others, personally, physically, and spiritually, will always be remembered and cherished by all. She never expected earthly praise because she knew her crown was waiting for her in heaven. But she expected that when you received help you should do better for yourself and most especially others. Her hobbies were crocheting, crossword puzzles, reading (especially the Word of God), cooking, spending time with her family, and helping others. She was preceded in death by her parents and several siblings. She leaves behind her devoted and loving husband, George E. Jarrett. Children; Michelle, Nicole, Camille, Athelstan (aka Dave), and Tanzie Jarrett. Grandchildren; Dwayne and Aneisha Jarrett, Isaiah Ruffin, Camille, and Ishmael Menns. Great grandchild; Nyla Henry. Siblings; Jemimah Knight, Hermine Jones, Kathleen McCalla, Ethnal and Amos Thomas and a host of other relatives and friends. 2 Timothy 4:7 and 8 says, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” She has received her righteous crown and is waiting for us to come. The Broken Chain Poem We little knew that day, God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, In death, we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you. You did not go alone. For part of us went with you, The day God called you home. You left us beautiful memories, Your love is still our guide. And although we cannot see you, You are always at our side. Our family chain is broken, And nothing seems the same, But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again. Author: Ron Tranmer
