Steven Sanders

November 2, 1961 — September 7, 2020

On Monday, September 7, 2020, Steven Sanders, Sr. made his transition from this life. He was born on November 2, 1961 at Middlesex Hospital (RWJ University) Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. Steve was the youngest of five children to the late Percy V. and Vivia Mae Sanders Sr. Steve attended the Franklin Township Public School system and graduated from Somerset County Vocational School. There, he studied plumbing and graphic arts. It was here he developed an interest in photography. Steve had a big personality that went with his physical presence. Everyone knew when Steve was in the room. To know Steve was to know that he was a TRUE Dallas Cowboys fan and loved the New York Yankees. He shared that same enthusiasm for all things barbeque. You could always find him at the grill whether it was at a small family gathering or big family reunion. Steve was at the grill making sure everyone had something to eat and he enjoyed every minute of it. It wasn’t just grilling, he had a passion for cooking in general. Every year, he would volunteer his time with the KRS Memorial Scholarship Foundation at their annual fish fry. He would be frying fish just about all day to fill orders to help raise money for graduating High School Seniors. People who participated looked forward to this event year after year. In 2009, Steve accepted the Lord as his Savior. He was not afraid to let you know that Ecclesiastes 3 was his favorite book and chapter of the bible. He also loved “We Fall Down” by Donnie McClurkin. When times got tough, these two combined often helped him get through. For 10 years, Steve worked for Kobo Products, Inc. in South Plainfield, NJ. He held various positions from forklift driver to inventory control. It was not easy for him to leave when he started to have health issues. He thought very highly of the company he worked for and enjoyed going to work everyday. Steve was a loving husband, a dedicated father, proud grandfather and beloved brother, cousin, uncle, nephew and friend. The brothers shared a loving, supportive and best friend bond. That bond included being very protective of their sister Lois. He is predeceased by his parents, Percy V. and Vivia Mae Sanders Sr. and his older brother Dennis P. Sanders. Precious memories will be shared by his devoted wife Noreta Perkins-Sanders; Two Sons: Steven Sanders Jr. and Kaiyell Sanders of Richmond, VA; Granddaughter; Kadence Sanders of Chicago; Blended family:Emilio Thorpe Jr. Bound Brook NJ; Alonzo Williams of Ewing NJ; Ashley Thorpe of South Plainfield NJ; Four Sister: Elois (Lois) Taylor of Somerset, NJ; Ruby Hill of Compton, CA; Lonnie Blackmon of Belleflower, CA; and Grace Conerly of Golfcrest, GA, Two Brothers: Percey V. Sanders, Jr and Jerry(Octavia) Sanders of Somerset, NJ; Sister-in-Love: Paula Sanders (Dennis); Aunt: Lucille Kelly of Somerset, NJ; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. We will all miss his laugh that filled the room and his big heart that loved all without fail.
