Obituary of Dorothy Elizabeth Coles

Dorothy Elizabeth Banks Coles was born September 23, 1921 to the late Kate Cooper and Eddie Banks in Henrico County Virginia.

Dorothy attended school in the Bowling Green Virginia school system. Dorothy and her brother Eddie were raised by their grandmother Nellie when their parents died at a young age.

Dorothy was a baptized, faithful member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church for over 80 years. She was a dedicated member and attend church up until her health starting declining. Dorothy was the oldest member at Mount Sinai Baptist Church. She served on the foral club, the willing workers and the missionary club.

Dorothy moved to Newark NJ where she met Samson Coles. They were married in December 1943. To this union two children were born. Doris and Vincent.

Dorothy worked many years at the Beckett Funeral Home in Newark NJ as a beautician. She later to worked as a Home Health aide for Chrill Inc until her retirement.

Dorothy was called Nana by everyone. Nana was a prayer warrior for God. She prayed for everyone and was a good fearing woman who loved the Lord " and always kept you in prayer."
