I didn't have the great honor of meeting you. I know many people did. I just read your story tonight that has consumed me in every way. I hurt so bad for your family, son, fiancé, colleagues and any other person that have had the pleasure of meeting you. My sister saved my life with a bone marrow transplant just a short year and 176 days ago. You sir, are a hero in so many ways and the world will shine a little less bright without you.
Don’t get on Facebook that much, but my sister that saved my life shared an article about you. I don’t think any article can replace what the world is missing without you in it. God has gain another angel. I’ll continue to keep your family in my prayers. The world would be a great place if we all lived by your example.
My Facebook post is below for the family and all his loved one. I can’t imagine how you feel. God bless you all.
As many of you know, my sister Olivia saved my life. You have less than a 20% chance of a sibling being your match for a bone marrow/stem cell transplant. This gentleman, Derrick Nelson, has protected our freedom, mentored our youth and saved a stranger’s life. Would you do that? Do you have the strength to save a stranger’s life? God bless his family, friends and community that will miss his presences daily. He obviously was the definition of what we should all strive to be. #BeTheMatch #BeKind #DerrickNelson
