On March 28, 2020, Willie Mae began resting in the arms of our heavenly Father with her husband, Johnnie M. Bell, (son), Mark E. Bell (aka Asmar), (daughter) Mildred Jean Bell- Welch, (granddaughter) Latifah Bouie, (grandson) Asmar Bell, (stepdaughter) Betty Lou Bell and her (youngest sister) Bertha Lawrence. Her Fruit: The late Johnnie M. Bell and Willie Mae had 8 children together and filled their home with laughter and love. Marilynn Walker (Stephen), Johnnie M. Bell Jr. (Marjorie), (son in law) Robert Welch, Judi D. Bell, Freddie H. Bell (Crystal), Loretta K. Parker (Frank), Harvey E. Bell (Stephanie), Haamid Shivers, (stepdaughter) Barbara J. Byrdsong (Don), Brenda Brydsong (Curtis), her dearest sister, Elizabeth Sherrell and a host of grand-children, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a large number of close family friends. Acknowledgement: Willie was a proud Missionary at Gethsemane Baptist Church where she served for over 20 years. She was a prayer warrior; she would turn down her plate (fast) and pray for her family at any given moment. She was the best cook (OMG).She could make anything taste amazing and would generously feed any person in need. She was a dedicated and honorable employee; Willie worked many years as a blue-collar worker. She was known for always taking pride in her work and taught her children to do the same. Often she would say, “Work hard to get what you want out of life”. Willie Mae made others feel like family regardless of their background or status. It was her gift to make all, feel loved and wanted. She unselfishly demonstrated hospitality by giving many people a safe place to rest their head. Everyone knew that there was love in their home. Even at 85 years old, she was always a lady and maintained her hourglass figure. She kept her hair done and at one time it was 27 inches long. She taught her girls to be classy women, ladies with strength and pride. She loved her boys and made sure that they knew how to be loving men and to provide for their families. She enjoyed music and loved to dance. We know she and our father are dancing in heaven to the praises of the Lord and his heavenly orchestra. We still love her very much and it brings us comfort knowing that she is welcomed into heaven and now has eternal peace without pain, stress or worry. Please join the Bell & Shivers family for a Celebration of Life, tentatively planned for September 5, 2020.
