MaryPalmer January 10, 1950 – April 2, 2020 Mary was born in Brooklyn, NY on January 10, 1950 to her parents Marion Alleyne& Elbert Quick. As a young child her parents relocated to Staten Island where she went to elementary school and attended McKie high School. Once her parents died, she became the matriarch. She gladly assumed the leadership role of bringing the family together, giving guidance and counsel to her siblings, nieces, nephews and the whole family. Mary meet her husband George Palmer at the age of 13. They became great friends. George went away to Vietnam and when he returned, they were married. From their union came two children, daughter Kuandika Jack (and husband Brian) and son George Palmer Jr. (fiancé Elenore). All of them had special relationships with Mary. George and Mary decided to move the family to NJ where they purchased a home and settled in Somerset. Mary worked for the stock exchange for 20 years. Upon retirement she started several businesses as an Entrepreneur to supplement her income and care for her family. She was very successful and loved being able to help those under her hire. Mary was the kind of person that made everyone feel special and she loved her family dearly. She was blessed with grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she was very present in their lives. Over the years she participants in all their events, birthdays, graduations, weddings, you name it, proud grandma was there. Mary had a thirst for life, for living it in the fullest. She was known for throwing historic backyard BBQ’s. Mary had a huge backyard and a huge heart to match. Her smile would light up the room. People would come from near and far to celebrate. Mary was a dancer and the life of the party. Hosting these BBQ made her happy. They made everyone happy. Mary took full advantage of life and what it had to offer. She and George enjoyed traveling and taking trips together. They also enjoyed cultural things like going into the city with friends and family to restaurants, the theater, and museums. Mary had the privilege of celebration two milestone events earlier this year. In January she celebrated her 70th birthday with a blast. Then, in February she and George celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends. Mary and George had a love that lasted over 5 decades. They had something special. George was her boo. Mary departed this world in a style that was her own. She left here on Thursday, evening April 2nd in the arms of the love of her life – her husband. She said George, come hold me – and he did, and in the comfort of his arms, in peace she left us.
