Obituary of Jacqueline B Williams

Please share a memory of Jacqueline to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jacqueline B. Williams, 87, of Linden, NJ, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2020 at the Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains, NJ. Jacqueline was born in Winnsboro, Louisiana to the late John Henry Brown Sr. and Annie Johnson Brown. She accepted Christ as her Savior at a young age and was baptized at the First Zion Baptist Church. She met the “love of her life” Earl Williams in elementary school and they were joined in marriage in 1949. Jacqueline and Earl moved to New Jersey in 1953 and found a church home at Abyssinian Baptist Church in Newark, NJ. Most notably, Jacqueline served as the President of the Deaconess Board for more than 20 years and helped to lead the church’s Kitchen Committee. She was known for dictating and delegating the happenings of the Kitchen Committee for many years, and was said to be exceedingly generous, including providing meals to those less fortunate. She worked at Interbake for over 30 years, elevating from line baker to supervisor before the end of her tenure. She was also civically engaged in many clubs and programs including the Linden Scholarship Club and Linden Democratic Club. Jacqueline, affectionately known as “Jackie” and “the Queen”, believed in the importance of a strong work ethic, education (she was comically known to tell children: “getcho lesson!”), her Faith, friends, and family. In addition to her loving husband of 66 years, she was preceded in death by her parents: John and Annie Brown, sisters: Ida Bell, Mary Bell, Emmaline, Helen, Daisy, and Geraldine (a “sister”/niece), and brothers: John, Jacob, Milton, and Irvin. She leaves to cherish her memories; children: Earl Jr. (South River, NJ), Loretta (Reading, PA), and Shirley (Al) (Livingston, NJ), grandchildren: Tammy, Jackie, Earl III, Matthew, Danielle, and Michelle, four great grandchildren, sister: Earline Daniels (Fremont, CA), brother-in-law: Sam Williams (Alma) (Ferriday, LA), "sister"/niece Carolyn (LC), and a loved sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, godchildren, friends, and beloved church members including her special friends Gene and Jannie. In her own words, “let the works I’ve done speak for me”.
