Quebie Jackman Obituary East Orange, New Jersey - Quebie Ojanree Jackman, age 73, of East Orange, NJ, passed away on May 22, 2020, at East Orange General Hospital, East Orange, NJ. He was born and raised in Georgetown Guyana to Ruby and Phillip Jackman. He joined the Guyana police force in May 1969 and was appointed on January 15, 1970, where he worked in various position for 17 years. He left the police force when he was Inspector of the Finance Department at Eveleary and immigrated to the united states in 1987. In 1988 he obtained a supervisory position at Charles Beseler Company, where he worked until he was recruited away in 2000 by Beth Israel Hospital in Newark, New Jersey. He retired from Beth Israel Hospital in 2010 at the age of 63 to pursue his passion for travel, music, movies, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. Quebie will be remembered as a selfless giver of his time and talents with a heart of gold, and a gentle soul whom sought to make sure everyone was okay, right up until he got his wings to ascend. He could fix anything and frequently was called upon by family and friends for help. Quebie brought humor, fun and a sarcastic wit to all events and was adored by all. Quebie is preceded in death by his parents Ruby and Phillip Jackman, his son Miguel Jackman and his brother, Headrick (Bully) Jackman. Those left to mourn his loss and rejoice in his heavenly journey are his two former wives Myrtle Hope (1972-1992) and Karen Harper (2005-2008); his siblings Claudine Gittens, Lubert Jackman, and Shindell Jackman; his children Neville Bruce, Phillip Forde, Shellon Forde, Patricia Glasgow, Jaeda Jackman, Jonelle Jackman, Michelle Jackman, Sharon Jackman, Stephan Jackman and Kendria Jackman-Oakley; twenty five grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. We do recognize that in the tragedy of Quebie’s final chapter he left behind a plethora of gifts of Inspiration. We are amazed and inspired by the many stories he told and path he cleared. As he is laid to rest, we hope that the idiom “Gone but not forgotten” resonates in all our hearts. A celebration of his life (memorial service) will be held when social distancing requirements are discontinued.
