Obituary of Angelenia Cecilia Graves

Please share a memory of Angelenia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Angelenia Cecilia Graves (Angie) was born on October 8, 1965 in Newark, NJ to the late John Luther and Mary Ann Graves. Angie departed this life on earth on Saturday, June 24th, 2023 in Edison, NJ. Angie grew up (and hung out) in Newark, NJ for many of her early years before moving to Plainfield, NJ where she attended Plainfield Public Schools.

Our Mother was a lover of many things. She loved COOKING, watching her cooking shows, going out to dinner, watching games shows, her stories (Young & the Restless, Bold & Beautiful), singing her favorite old R&B and Club Jams, and helping others. Angie would help anyone who would need it. You didn't even have to ask and she was on top of it. She was not only loved by family, she was loved by many others "friends and adopted family" she met throughout her lifetime. Angie's passion for taking caring of and helping others included her joy of being a Home Health Aide and Caregiver. She put her all into caring for her clients. From infants to the elderly, Angie did it all. We will truly miss the stories Angie would tell, her funny personality, the advice she would give, the long phone conversations, the daily check ins. Let's not forget Angie's flawless diva style and makeup. Our mom's signature smile lit up ever room, it will be forever missed.

She is predeceased by both her parents: John Luther and Mary Ann Graves, and a sister April Graves. Angie leaves behind her most precious gifts from GOD to carry on her Legacy, her daughter, Sakeenah T. Graves (Linden, NJ), her son Quian S. Graves (South Plainfield, NJ), her five grandsons, Malakai E. Bell (Boogie), Jeriah E. Watson (Ri-Ri), Noah J, Watson (Fats), Christian G. Watson (Spud), Micah E. Watson (Peanut). Three brothers, John D. Graves, Tony A. Graves, Bruce Harris; seven sisters, Melissa A. Graves, Sherri A. Allen, Hortensia Glenn(James Gregory affectionately known as 'Brother in law Geg'), Tammi L. Graves, Tonja R. Graves, Nicole Monroe, Cassandra Graves, a longtime companion Johnnie Darden; nieces- Lexis and Danielle nephews- John(Rachel), Khyrii, Tony Jr(Kiara), Colin(CJ), Rashon, Isaiah(Julia) and Javon.

Angie also leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces and nephews, aunts (Maggie Oxendine(John), Catherine Legette, Bobby Pee; uncle, James Williams, a special 'Godmother' Ms. Dorothy Barco, cousins, special and close friends.
