Obituary of Levon West

Levon, commonly known as Lee, was born on June 16, 1958, in Kinston North Carolina, however
grew up in Newark and Hillside NJ. He attended Peshine Avenue and Maple Avenue elementary
schools and graduated from Weequahic High School, class of ’76.
Lee has spent his career in the field of procurement. Pursuing his field, he has worked for many
years for the City of Newark, Newark Housing Authority, and he landed his dream job of
working at a prestigious university in 2009 by being hired as the Contract Manager for New
York University (NYU)! For the past 10 years Lee has led a team to manage the purchase or
licensing agreements of all amounts.
Lee has been married to his wife Darcea for 26 years. They are residents of South Orange NJ,
where his two precious gems were born and raised. His daughter Leigh is a graduate of NYU
and now resides in Virginia where she commutes daily to Washington DC working as a financial
consultant. His son Zach is a junior in the Stern School of business at NYU. *Other important
members of his immediate family also consist of Terry is 7-year-old bear sized Labrador
Retriever, and Doc his 6-year-old Tuxedo cat.
Lee is survived by his mother Yvonne West, sisters Gatselitha West-Foy, Cynthia West, and
Candance West; Brothers James West Jr. and Robert West. Levon was proceeded in death by
his father James West Sr and his sister Virginia West.
Lee also leaves to his cherished memory nieces, nephews, grandnephews, grandnieces and
friends.
Lee’s most favorite activity in this life was to sit in tranquility at the Beach. Our family will
forever envision Lee’s room in our Father’s House with a bright and sunny beach view.
Lee we love you and will be forever missed…..
