Obituary of Chantal Catherine Carmichael

CHANTAL CATHERINE CARMICHAEL  was born on June 26, 1992 in Newark, New Jersey to Cedric Carmichael and Cathy Erich and raised by her mother, Tayshia Green from the age of 6.

 Chantal was educated in the Newark Public Schools system attending Luis Munoz Marin Middle School and Science Park High.

 Chantal was affectionately known to family members and friends as “Chanie”.  She was a fun loving person who was very kind.  She loved the quality time that was spent with her family and friends.  She loved having fun, listening to music, doing hair, swimming, coloring and reading.  Her favorite color was orange.  She liked sports, her favorite football team was the San Francisco 49ers and because they have orange in their uniforms, she liked the Knicks basketball team.   She loved coffee and mashed potatoes, but  hated aluminum foil...it made her cringe.  She liked animals and wanted to become a veterinarian.

 Peacefully November 18, 2019 she departed this life.

 Chanie was predeceased by her brother, Paris Apollo.

 Chanie's life and memory are cherished by her birth parents: Cedric Carmichael and Cathy Erich of Newark, NJ; her mother: Tayshia Green of Newark, NJ, her brothers: Ja'Quan Thomas, Talik Thomas and Tay'Zhan Selby-Green all of Newark, NJ. Her grandparents: Guenter and Rosemarie Erich of  Shohola, PA and George (Donna)  Moore of Newark, NJ: her Great-Grandmother: Dorothy Green of Newark, NJ, her Uncles: Mark Erich of Pequannock, NJ, Spencer "Ali" Edwards, Emanuel "Majid" (Michelle) Edwards, Lewis "Louie" Hankerson, Tariq "Riq" Hankerson, Rahmin (Cristal) Wynn, Najee Moore and Gerand Moore all of Newark, NJ, Hanif Wynn of Woodbridge, V.A. and Anthony Smith of S.C.; her Aunts; Angelique Thompson, Subrina (Ahmed) Screven, Tenisia "Niecey" Hankerson, Mahogany "Rasha" Hankerson all of Newark, N.J., Litoya "Cuppie" Hankerson of Rochester, N.Y, Taheerah Smith of Waxhaw, N.C. and Tanika Smith of Greenville, S.C., a very special friend: Haleem Houser and a host other relatives and friends.  
 

Chantal was a precious gem in each of our lives. She will truly be missed by each of us.
