Obituary of Rori Danielle Lewis

Our Beloved Rori Danielle Lewis departed this life on Thursday, October 28, 2021.  She was born on October 2, 1978 to Herb Leyland Lewis and Linda Denise Jones-Lewis in Edison, NJ.

Rori graduated from Plainfield High School in 1996. She then attended Robert Fiance Beauty School in North Plainfield, NJ.  Rori went on to become a hair stylist.  After becoming a mother she wanted to spend more time with Khaire’ and Kha’la and transitioned to corporate.  Rori went into the insurance field and worked at CHUBB/HUB International for twenty years as an account executive.  Later she found a hidden talent as a baker, alongside her sister NaTasha which lead to Cakey Customs, LLC.

She had a gap-toothed smile that would brighten up any room and had an infectious laugh and personality.  Always ready with a one-liner, she stayed with jokes (legend has it, she moonlighted as a comedienne).  Rori always had a smile on her face and if she didn’t it was for a good reason.  She was the true definition of a Momma Bear, always protective of her cubs.  Not only of her cubs but her family in general, word on the street is she was the protector of the family. She had the Spirit of a Lioness and the Heart of a Warrior Queen.    

Rori loved to cook and enjoyed watching the food network, she could mimic anything in the kitchen and took pride in every meal she prepared.  To her family she was a “World Class Chef”.  She enjoyed watching several classic movies, especially anything with Eddie Murphy, Golden Girls, Martin and pretty much anything funny…and even if it wasn’t, she found humor in it.   She loved a wide genre of music from R&B to reggae which was heavily influenced in her childhood. You could catch Rori at a Carl Thomas or Beres Hammond concert.  She was a natural nurturer who would take care of her family without hesitation including her loving dog-son Knight.      

Rori was predeceased by her mother Linda Denise Jones.

Rori leaves behind to cherish her memories: Father, Herb Leyland Lewis, Sr., Children: Khaire’ Shariff and Kha’la Denise Arrington (Khary Arrington), Andre Owens (Devoted Fiancé), Siblings: Jeno Shepherd-Lewis, Jackie Gomes, Maxine Joy David-Edwards, Barry “Buzz” McCombs, Herb Lewis, Jr., NaTasha LeeAnn Lewis-Morales (Ivan Morales), Aunts: LaVerne “Sissy” Northern (Melvin Northern), Dorothy Poole (Mike Poole), Dannet Lewis-Simon, Uncle: Desmond “Brent” Wade, Nieces: I’Nyah Rori Morales (her namesake), I’mani Lenise McCombs, Nephew: N’avi Lee Morales and a host of Loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nephews, Nieces and Friends. 

Rori is now reunited with Mommy.  

We will miss her, we will cry, but most of all we will celebrate her life
