Obituary of Jonita Payton

Jonita Payton, affectionately known as “NeNe”, was born September 15th, 1951 in Patterson New Jersey, to the wonderful and beloved late Elvira Brunt and David Martin. On Saturday May 7th, 2022 NeNe gained her wings. Jonita peacefully transitioned at the eminent age of 71!

NeNe was a very laid back, loving woman who threw down in the kitchen. She worked at Value Auto Rental for a whopping 18 years from 2003-2021! She retired and like the hard working woman she was, she obtained her sorors license and joined her daughter working at Allied Prudential at 71 years young! Anyone who has ever come into NeNe’s life as a friend, left as family because that's the type of person she was. So for everyone that is sad here, let's turn those frowns upside down and celebrate the wonderful impact NeNe had on all of us.

Jonita began her journey through life growing up in Paterson as a bright beautiful young lady, she then moved to the city of Irvington and had her first of two children a handsome young son by the name of David Payton who is upon the gates waiting on his mother's arrival..She also leaves behind her first grandchild Donte Brooks from her late son, a beautiful young daughter Laronda Deck and son in law William Deck who blessed Jonitas life with 7 beautiful grandchildren Laniyah, Nasir, and Messiah Payton, Najirah, William, Alicea and Saquay Deck. A

God daughter Yolanda Lockett and her four girls Nakirah, Tatiana, Khadeidra, and Taraji. A great grandchild Saier, two siblings Cherri Cook of Benicia, California and Willie Payton of Richmond, California, and a loving husband John of Newark NJ. Nephews Tony Justice, the Late Sean Justice, Niece Monica Payton-Williams and her children Shaila Payton and Cameron Williams. A host of other family including Delma Brunt, Kourtney, Janell Justice-Sangster, Duane Justice ll, Chadonya Justice-Battle, Kyle Johnson-Justice, Shakoor Mitchner, Tazia Tucker-Justice and many more loved ones.
