Obituary

Rogelio Antonio Chavarria was born in Limon, Costa Rica on April 21st, 1973, to his mother, Virginia Lozano and his late father, Antonio Chavarria. He lived a rough childhood alongside his father working in the banana plantations for little to no money. He later moved to the capital San Jose to live with his aunt, Elsa Graciela Chavarria, also known as Tia Chela, until he was 16. He was also taken under the wings of a gentleman named Jorge Alfaro who helped raise him. Jorge sent Rogelio to study and enrolled him in Taekwondo where he quickly earned his black belt. Once Jorge noticed the ability Rogelio had he sent him to train to become a bodyguard for the United Nations. In February 1990, he went to study abroad in Canada. He later traveled to the United States twice before making New Jersey his new home in 1993.

Rogelio was blessed with a loving family. He met his wife at a temporary job in Hightstown, NJ in 1993. On August 4th, 1995, they welcomed their first son, George Anthony Chavarria. Soon after, on September 12th, 1997, their second son, Joshua Manuel Chavarria was welcomed and finally on August 6th, 2000, he received his forever princess, Sandy Gabriela Chavarria. Rogelio also shares a daughter, Katherine Calderon and is stepfather to Kevin Joseph Avila. Rogelio helped raise all his children with the fear of God, morals, ethics, and humility.

Rogelio was a true servant at heart. He would be there for any and everyone no matter what circumstance. He was the prime example of a hard-working man that would do anything to provide for his family. Many times in life he often would fall but always showed the fighting spirit needed to get back up. He will always be remembered by friends and family as the toughest man on earth.

Rogelio is survived by his wife, Miriam; his son’s George, Joshua, and Kevin; his daughters Sandy and Katherine; his grandchildren Madison, Mackenzie, Valery, and Geraldy; his sisters Iliana and Maria; his brother Enrique; and Virginia Lozano, his mother.
