Obituary of Tahlerah L Carruthers

Tahlerah Lavette Carruthers, 44 years old of Newark, NJ, made her transition on February 4, 2023. She was born January 12, 1979 to the late Ernest Smith and Tawanda Carruthers.

Tahlerah was born in Newark NJ and received her education in the Newark Public School System. She attended I.Y.O to complete her education. 

Tahlerah was a passionate, loving, and free-spirited woman. “Lerah” loved to dance and sing her favorite songs, if you really knew her, we all know what songs those were. She departed too soon and will be miss dearly.

Tahlerah was preceded in death by beloved family members: daughter, Latrisha Carruthers and father Ernest Smith. She leaves to cherish her memory: her mother Tawanda Carruthers; her daughters, Sahmara Carruthers and Jahmirah Carruthers; her son Jermaine Marshall; her granddaughters, My’Asia Jones, Mackenzie Seymour, and Ka’Maya Marshall; her grandson Damauri Godbolt; her sisters, Uwana Carruthers, Nakeisha Johnson-Poole (Lee Poole) and Shermaine Lonon; brother Lonell Carruthers; and many nieces, nephews, cousin-brothers, cousin-sisters, and a host of relatives and friends.
