Obituary of Charessa Lynn Scott

Please share a memory of Charessa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Charessa Lynn Scott (68) of Princeton, NJ passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on December 26, 2023.

Charessa, affectionately known to many as Lynn, Aunt Lynnie and Reesha Lynn was the third of eight children. She was born in Monroe, GA on February 20, 1955 to Lee Artis and Willie Lee Vinson.

At an early age Lynn gave her life to Christ and became an active member of Progressive Church of God In Christ (New Brunswick, NJ). She sang in the church choir and also sang in the NJ State C.O.G.I.C. Choir. She later attended Abundant Life Family Worship Church (New Brunswick, NJ) under the leadership of Bishop George C. Searight.

Lynn attended Franklin Township public schools and graduated from Somerset County Vocational Technical High School where she studied Cosmetology. Her big smile, friendly personality and unique laugh would allow her to easily form friendships; some of which span over 60 years!

Lynn was a devoted wife to Eugene Scott for over twenty years. They resided in New Brunswick, NJ and later relocated to Princeton, NJ.

Being the hard worker that she was, not only did Lynn work as a licensed Beautician/Cosmetologist in local salons and out of her home, she also held down other jobs in addition. Lynn worked for RCA for many years, then her love for children would be on full display as she was consistently recognized for her work at KinderCare. She later worked at Kinkos where her time there allowed her to form life-long friends.

During her spare time Lynn loved to crochet, work on crossword puzzles and spend time with her family.

Lynn was pre-deceased by her husband, Eugene Scott, her parents Lee Artis and Willie Lee Vinson, her brother Dennis Vinson, two nephews, Jaworski Terrell and Kyle Vinson and her best friend Linda Williams.

The loved ones that are left to cherish the beautiful memories of Lynn include her

step-daughter Carla Weeks, grandson Darnell Haynes, great-granddaughters Skylar and Tiffany Haynes, siblings Ruby Terrell, Leon (Charlene) Vinson, Toby (Richard) Hemingway, Owens Vinson, Vickie Vinson, Bonita (Mark) Grey, sister in-law Joy Vinson, God children Stephen Lamont Bailey, Tiffany Montgomery, Timothy Alston, Dennis Vinson II, nieces and nephews, Kendrick Terrell, Shaunte’ (Darnell) Marcus, Nyticka Sehested, Natasha (Flashi’er) Brown, Tiffany (Chris) Montgomery, Timothy (Melvin) Alston, Richard II (Ashley) Hemingway, Crystal Vinson, Mark II (Glennisha) Grey, Jarrett Vinson, Brittany Grey, Chelsea Vinson, Ashlee Garrett, Jaier Garrett, niece in-law Erin Vinson, numerous great nieces and nephews, 2 great-great nephews, a host of cousins, aunts, 1 uncle and close friends, including her best friend Meryl Clark.
