Obituary of Dorothy Jean Vauss

In loving memory, we bid farewell to Dorothy Jean Vauss. Dorothy's life journey began on May 20, 1953, in Macon County, Alabama, born to the late Johnny and Lola Mitchell.

She was a devoted employee of The Essex County Hospital Center for 44 years. She peacefully passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024, at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey, at the age of 70.

Dorothy's legacy is carried on by her two loving sons, Anthony R. Vauss (April) and Christopher C. Bembry (Darlene). She will always be remembered as a cherished grandmother to Anthony A. Vauss, Kahliah Vauss, Destiny Bembry, Majid Bembry, RaQuil Bembry, and great-grandmother to Anthony A. Vauss "IlI".

She exemplified the qualities of a mother - responsible, caring, loving, dependable, trusting, and humble. She dedicated her life to ensuring the well-being of her children and family, always putting their needs above her own.

Dorothy's nurturing spirit and unwavering love created a foundation of strength and support for her family, guiding them with wisdom and kindness.

Preceding her in passing are her sisters, Ida M. Neil, Lillie Dorsey, and Mary Dorsey, and her brothers Charles Melford, William Mitchell, Bobby Lee Thomas, Arthur James Mitchell, Willie Mitchell, and Edward Green.

Dorothy will be dearly missed by her surviving sister Flora Sweeper (Dennis), and brothers, Hassan, and Johnny Jr.

Dorothy's circle of loved ones extends to her close friends Joyce, Tina, Dianne, Jewel, Sue, Lydell, Melbo, and Elisa, who shared in her joys, sorrows, and precious moments throughout her life.

In addition to her immediate family, Dorothy leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, as well as her extended family of adopted grandchildren.

Dorothy's legacy will forever be cherished by her children, who rise and call her blessed. Her family, and all who were touched by her love join in praising her remarkable qualities a testament to her enduring impact and the depth of her love and care.

May Dorothy Jean Vauss' memory be a source of comfort and strength to all who knew and loved her. Her legacy will forever endure within our hearts.
